Wing Zone® Opening In Lincoln, Nebraska

Fast-growing franchise organization expands with its first Nebraska location.

November 23, 2002– Atlanta-based Wing Zone opened its newest location on November 23, 2002. Rick Sartwell and Sunshine Stueve opened a Wing Zone in Lincoln, NE. Sartwell and Stueve bring extensive food service industry experience to their endeavor in Lincoln. Sartwell was the proprietor of previous successful restaurant operations in Omaha, NE. area and Stueve has managed high traffic fast-food locations for several years. The partners worked together before and saw Wing Zone as an opportunity to do so again.

Wing Zone now has locations stretching from the east coast to as far west as Seattle, WA, and throughout the United States. The next territory planned for development will be in the Northeast.

Wing Zone’s extensive menu offers 25 unique flavors of wings, including favorites such as nuclear, honey garlic, lemon pepper, cajun, garlic parmesan, spicy BBQ, honey mustard, ranch and nuclear honey teriyaki.

In addition to wings, Wing Zone offers salads, grilled sandwiches and a variety of appetizers such as; chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, battered mushrooms, onion rings and cheese fries. Wing Zone was founded in 1991 at the University of Florida by Matt Friedman and Adam Scott. The two enterprising young business students spent one weekend cooking wings and making homemade sauces in their fraternity house kitchen. They spent $500 to put in a phone line and handed out flyers around campus. After a week of sold-out inventory, they opened a storefront and a business was born. In 1999, after opening several corporate locations, Friedman and Scott formed WZ Franchise Corp. and began franchising their 25-Flavor Jumbo Buffalo Wing concept to other entrepreneurs.

In October 2000, Inc. magazine named Wing Zone to its list as one of the top 500 fastest growing private companies in the country. Additionally, Success magazine placed Wing Zone in its “Gold 200”, ranking the company in the top 22 restaurant franchises.

Wing Zone stores currently operate in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Louisiana, Colorado, Washington, and now Nebraska.
